Former Inter coach, and Inter and Juventus midfielder Marcelo Tardelli believes that the Nerazzurri’s focus will play a key role in the outcome of their Coppa Italia final against the Bianconeri on Wednesday.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, Tardelli predicted that how much Inter decide to commit to the cup final with three league matches still looming could play a decisive role.

The Nerazzurri can win an important piece of silverware by lifting the Coppa Italia for the first time in eleven seasons if they win against Juventus on Wednesday.

However, there is also the Scudetto race to think about, with two matches that will not be easy on the horizon against the likes of Cagliari and then Sampdoria.

The Nerazzurri must aim to win all three to maximize their chances of finishing the season with silverware, but accomplishing this could mean carefully choosing how to balance their energy and not overextend themselves in any one match.

Tardelli said that he will be watching out for “Inter’s attitude. Inter must be careful to distribute their energy, if they spend everything on the Coppa Italia they could pay for it in the league.”

“They will play with their best team,” he predicted, “and then we’ll have to see if it as an unconscious effect on them.”
