Ivan Perisic has requested that the project at Inter remain fully competitive if he is to extend his contract beyond the end of this season.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the 33-year-old has made this a key part of his considerations before he is willing to renew with the Nerazzurri.

Inter will sit down for decisive contract talks with Perisic at the end of the season, with the Croat’s current deal set to run out at the end of June.

Perisic’s form this season has been outstanding and the club will do everything that they can to convince him on an extension, but the player is only interested in staying on if he feels that the level of the team will not drop.

The Nerazzurri will give the 33-year-old assurances that despite the financial objectives being pursued by the club during the summer the team will remain at a high level, including the signing of Paulo Dybala on a free transfer.
