Federico Dimarco is ready to start in defense for Inter in this evening’s Coppa Italia final if Alessandro Bastoni is not fit to.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that Simone Inzaghi will make his final decision on who to start on defense based on what he sees in the warmups this morning.

Bastoni may not be 100% following the calf problem which ruled him out of the Nerazzurri’s last three matches, against Bologna, Udinese, and Empoli in Serie A.

This does not mean that the 23-year-old will not start, as signs have been positive based on the full training session that he completed yesterday, and he is aiming to grit his teeth and play given the importance of the match.

However, should the coach feel that Bastoni is not ready to start then the starting spot will instead be handed to Dimarco, who would be prepared to slot into the team.
