Inter captain Samir Handanovic feels that the team deserved their 4-2 win over Juventus in the Coppa Italia yesterday evening.

Speaking to InterTV after the match, the captain spoke about the overwhelming emotions when Ivan Perisic sealed their victory with his second goal in extra time to make it 4-2.

The Nerazzurri didn’t have a straightforward evening as they led, and then trailed, and finally equalized late in normal time to force extra time against the Bianconeri.

However, at the end of it the team won the Coppa Italia for the first time in eleven years, which was the first time for all of the players in the squad apart from Andrea Ranocchia.

Handanovic has been with the Nerazzurri for a decade, and having won the Scudetto last season, has now added the Coppa Italia to the list of trophies he’s won with the club to cap off a fruitful spell in an Inter shirt.

“It was a beautiful match,” he said. “We’re very happy, we won deservedly. We had a great match, we dropped off in the second half, we conceded two goals, but otherwise we controlled the game.”

And of the feeling of watching Perisic score the goal that made the match 4-2, he said that “We’ve been playing together for years, we know who to trust when things aren’t going as you want them to.”

“I felt very strong emotions for him and for the whole team,” he said.
