Inter wingback Matteo Darmian is happy with the Coppa Italia win that his team achieved with a 4-2 win over Juventus and feels that it’s a significant moment for their season.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, Darmian gave his immediate reaction to a match which saw the Nerazzurri lead, trail, and finally win 4-2 in extra time to give the fans the Coppa Italia trophy for the first time in eleven years.

Inter went ahead early on in the first half through a Nicolo Barella strike from outside the box, but the Bianconeri then took control.

Juventus overturned the scoreline through a quickfire brace early in the second half, but then the Nerazzurri turned it around and wrote another chapter in the club’s history.

Darmian is very pleased with the accomplishment and what it represents for the team and for the club.

“It was an important trophy for us, the fans and the club,” he said. “We wanted another trophy this season and from the first minute we tried to make things difficult for Juve.”

“We took the lead,” he went on, “but in the space of two minutes they turned the match around.”

“But we didn’t lose our concentration and we came back again.”

“Each match is unique,” the wingback reflected. “Tonight it was important to win and we succeeded, now we celebrate and then we head back into the championship.”

Of the Scudetto race with AC Milan, Darmian predicted that “You never know, in football nothing can be taken for granted.”

“We know we have to win both our matches and that Milan have to make a misstep,” he added.
