Italian journalist Mario Sconcerti has said that both of Inter’s penalties against Juventus were the right call and labelled Ivan Perisic as the best dribbler in Serie A, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Whilst writing for Corriere della Sera, Mario Sconcerti discussed the two penalties that Inter were awarded in the Coppa Italia final that have caused much debate online.

The first came for a foul by Leonardo Bonucci on Lautaro Martinez and the second was a Matthijs de Ligt fould on Stefan de Vrij.

Mario Sconcerti feels that they were both the correct call although they were not horrendous fouls.

“’They were both right, but the fouls were less serious than the damage they caused. I gave up understanding Italian penalties a long time ago, I think I’ve lost the sensitivity of referees, I don’t understand them anymore.

“For me football is a sport where contact is not always a sin, it comes into the game.”

He then discussed Inter winger Ivan Perisic who has had a wonderful season and scored two goals in the 4-2 victory. He feels he is the best dribbler in the league.

“The dominator was Perisic, the best quality on the pitch, perhaps the best player in the league for dribbling.”

He feels that when Juan Cuadrado dropped to full-back, it allowed Ivan Perisic more space to influence the game.

“The game changed when Morata came on for Danilo, and Cuadrado dropped to full-back. He never stopped Perisic. It was that constant confusion on the left that brought Inter back into a game they were suffering in.

“Inter are clearer, but Juve are an unusual opponent, they are always half-hearted, they can do everything at any time, for better or worse. This time it went wrong. It’s time to start again.”

Mario Sconcerti said that this Inter team do not know why they are two points behind AC Milan: “Inter take their first concrete title of the season, the Super Cup is not a tournament, it is a game. It is a team at its best. And it doesn’t understand why it is so far behind Milan. It is still a good question.”
