Inter striker Lautaro Martinez is happy to have won the Coppa Italia, and feels that the team’s 4-2 win over Juventus was deserved.

Speaking to InterTV after the match, the 24-year-old emphasized the view that the Nerazzurri had earned the win and spoke of the importance of the trophy to he, the team, and his family.

Inter needed a dramatic match to get the better of the Bianconeri, ending 4-2 after extra time, but they took home their first Coppa Italia trophy in eleven years at the end of it.

The Nerazzurri had to see out long spells of pressure from the Bianconeri, and also had to come back from 2-1 down after having had their early lead overturned during the second half.

In the end, Martinez and his teammates have secured a trophy success that adds prestige to their season and that they will be celebrating for a long time.

“Today we did an excellent job and we brought home this trophy, which we’ve deserved for what we’ve done since the beginning of the season.”

“We’re a group who work to take Inter higher and higher,” he went on. “Now we celebrate, but from tomorrow we think about the future, about two difficult matches that remain to be played in the league.”

He gave the view that “This success gives us confidence for the tail end of the season as well.”

“Of course I would have liked to score,” the striker added, “but the most important thing is that the team wins.”

“I have to help in every way and I’m very happy to have won another trophy with this club which is really important to me and my whole family.”
