If AC Milan were to win the Serie A title this season over Inter, it would come against the odds, according to Italian media.

This is the contention of today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who suggest that the Nerazzurri are the stronger and more experienced team on paper and should have been seen as favourites for the Scudetto.

In the view of Tuttosport, in a “combined eleven” for the two Milan derby rivals, only Mike Maignan and Sandro Tonali, and possibly Rafael Leao and Fiyako Tomori would get in ahead of their Inter counterparts.

Moreover, they note that between the Rossoneri’s squad there are 2906 appearances in Serie A, compared to 4526 among the players in Inter’s squad.

In terms of titles, the Nerazzurri’s squad can boast 21 Serie A titles and ten titles in other leagues, compared to four and seven among their city rivals’ team.

For Tuttosport, this is a clear indication that the Nerazzurri are the stronger and more experienced of the two teams, while only a moment in which Olivier Giroud scored a quickfire brace for the Rossoneri in the derby to overturn an Inter lead sits between them in reality.
