Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has emerged as an important leader figure in the team and a symbol inspiring the team on more than ever in the past few weeks as the fight for trophies has climaxed.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who suggest that the 24-year-old has become the “new king of Inter” especially after his antics in the Coppa Italia final on Wednesday.

Martinez was not able to get on the scoresheet in Wednesday’s final against Juventus despite his excellent scoring form over the past few weeks, and was substituted off as his team went in search of a winner.

However, rather than sulking on the bench, he looked as motivated as if he were playing, urging his team on with every pass and challenge, showing how much the trophy meant for him.

The Argentine had been crucial to the team reaching the final in the first place, with his first-half brace dispatching AC Milan in the second leg of the semi-final.

In the final, however, Martinez showed that even when he’s not on the pitch, Martinez is ready to give everything to fight for trophies with the Nerazzurri.
