Inter wingback Ivan Perisic has rejected the most recent contract extension offer from Inter via his agent in a meeting held shortly before the Coppa Italia final on Wednesday.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri had made an offer worth less than the 33-year-old currently earns, which was rejected.

Perisic’s outburst after Wednesday’s triumph over Juventus has cast serious doubt over his future with the Nerazzurri, as the player admitted that he is frustrated with how long the contract talks are dragging on.

The Corriere dello Sport has revealed some important background to his words, as the Croat’s agent had met with the club earlier in the day before the final.

The club put forward an offer of a one-year deal with the option of a further season, with wages of less than the €4.8 million net per season that Perisic earns on his current deal.

With the likes of Chelsea, Newcastle United, and Juventus eyeing up the 33-year-old on a free transfer, it remains to be seen whether he will agree a new deal with the Nerazzurri, but as of the most recent offer he has not been convinced.
