Former Lazio goalkeeper Luca Marchegiani believes that while Ivan Perisic has been having an outstanding season for Inter, he is not impossible to replace.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, Marchegiani named Marcelo Brozovic as the Nerazzurri’s one truly irreplaceable player in the squad.

Perisic put in yet another highly accomplished shift up and down the left flank in the Nerazzurri’ 3-1 win over Cagliari yesterday, of the kind that fans have become used to this season.

The Croat’s performances have consistently been important to driving the team on as well as showing an increased defensive solidity from previous seasons, which has made the prospect of losing him on a free transfer a negative one.

Marchegiani understands the view that Perisic has become a vital player to the team, but especially in light of the presence of Robin Gosens in the team, feels that his departure would be something that the team could cope with.

“At Inter the only truly irreplaceable player is Brozovic,” he said. “Perisic, even though he is an extraordinary player, can be replaced.”
