Inter sent a clear message to their city rivals AC Milan that if they want to take home the Scudetto they’ll have to work for it until the very end.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who suggests that the Nerazzurri’s 3-1 win over Cagliari yesterday evening made it clear to the Rossoneri that they must grit their teeth for one more week.

Inter and Milan have been pushing each other all season at the top of the table, while Napoli only dropped out of the race in the final weeks of the campaign.

Inter’s 2-1 loss to Bologna last month handed the Rossoneri the decisive advantage at the top of the table, and so far they have not blinked by winning all their matches in the league to maintain the gap over the Nerazzurri.

However, the Nerazzurri are still within touching distance and would be able to overtake on the final day in the event that Milan were to lose their final match against Sassuolo.

There is little doubt that the Rossoneri hold all the cards heading into the final day of the season, but they face a team who have already beaten them this season, as well as Inter and Juventus among other impressive results by the Neroverdi.

Milan will have to grit their teeth and fight for a result against Sassuolo as they’ve done all season, with the Nerazzurri confirming yesterday that this title race has been pushed right until the bitter end.
