Inter defender Lautaro Martinez feels that the Nerazzurri must do everything to win their match against Sampdoria next Sunday regardless of whether or not it’s enough to win the Scudetto.

Speaking to InterTV after the Nerazzurri’s 3-1 win over Cagliari yesterday evening, the 24-year-old stressed that the team are only focused on taking three points in their final match of the season.

Inter made sure that the title race will go down to the final day of the season by taking three points from the Sardegna Arena, although the advantage is with their city rivals AC Milan, who beat Atalanta to make sure their two-point gap at the top was maintained.

At any rate, the Nerazzurri are still focused on trying to take three points so that they can keep hope alive, with the possibility still very much there that the Rossoneri could slip up and lose to Sassuolo on the final day.

“We’ve dropped some key points, now we’re behind,” Martinez said. “We have to do our job and win.”

“There have been some matches that we couldn’t win,” he added, “we played good football, unfortunately the points we lost are big ones.”

“Now there’s the final home game against Sampdoria in front of our fans and we want to close out the season well,” he added.

Of his match-winning brace against Cagliari, the Argentine said that “I’m happy, I work hard every day and want to do well.”
