Inter striker Lautaro Martinez believes that the Serie A title race is far from over after this evening’s results in the league.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN after the Nerazzurri had beaten Cagliari 3-1, the 24-year-old emphasized that as far as he and the team are concerned, they are taking the fight to the final day and still believe that they can overtake AC Milan.

The Nerazzurri took three points as they had to from the Sardegna Arena, but just as importantly, the Rossoneri had also done so earlier in the day by beating Atalanta 2-0 at the San Siro.

Now, both teams are in with a chance of winning the title on the final day, although the advantage is decisively with Milan on paper as they only need a point to ensure that they win it all.

However, Martinez is not letting himself get bothered by this, and believes that the only thing they can do is get three points against Sampdoria next weekend and hope.

“We dropped massive points in Bologna,” he said. “Now we have to win our last match and wait.”

“I’d like to play that game again,” he admitted, “it’s the most recent defeat, and a real pity to have lost it. But there is still a chance to win the Scudetto, so we believe in it.”

Of the win over the Rossoblu, he said that “It was a difficult game, they played well. We had to win and we’re happy to have done so.”
