Inter midfielder Arturo Vidal is nearing a summer move to Flamengo at the end of the season.

This according to Italian news outlet La Repubblica, who report that the 34-year-old has been hinting at the switch on his social media accounts.

Vidal’s contract expires at the end of the season, and while there is a clause which would see it renewed automatically by the club, the Nerazzurri can opt out of activating that clause by paying the midfielder a severance.

With a switch to Flamengo looking to be on the horizon, it remains to be seen if Vidal will move after his contract is terminated via a severance payment, or whether the Chilean will simply be released from his contract.

The Nerazzurri are looking to lighten their wage bill and make room for new signings during the summer transfer window, and as one of the top earners in the squad, Vidal’s departure will be welcome in this respect.
