Legendary former Inter, Roma, and Real Madrid forward Antonio Cassano feels that Ivan Perisic deserves a three-year contract extension for how he’s performed this season.

Speaking on Christian Vieri’s Twitch channel, as reported by FCInterNews, Cassano gave the view that it would be foolish for the Nerazzurri to allow the 33-year-old to depart rather than meeting his contract demands.

Perisic’s contract situation is becoming an outstanding issue for Inter as the end of the season nears without a clear resolution to his situation with his current contract set to run out at the end of next month.

The Nerazzurri have looked hesitant to hand the Croat a lengthy deal on high wages, as they are trying to avoid giving such deals to players around his age.

However, Perisic’s form this season has made him a pillar of the team and raised questions about whether he should in fact be rewarded for his efforts even despite his age.

Cassano argued that “He’s had a sensational season, but has Marotta noticed?”

Of the 33-year-old’s outburst after the Coppa Italia final, he said that “It’s normal to say things like that there.”

“If he leaves Inter are shooting themselves in the foot,” Cassano argued, “he’s had the best season of his career, the club must give him a three-year contract.”
