Lazio head coach Maurizio Sarri wants to sign Inter midfielder Matias Vecino on a free transfer during the summer transfer window.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Il Messaggero, who report that the 30-year-old is one of the coach’s major targets to reinforce the Biancocelesti’s midfield going into next season.

Sarri is aiming to making Lazio’s squad more competitive for his second season in charge, and the midfield is a major area which he feels needs work.

One of the coach’s primary aims is to add players who he trusts to the squad, with former Napoli midfielder Allan a player who he is hoping to sign from Everton this summer.

Vecino is a player who Sarri enjoyed a fruitful working relationship with when the pair were at Empoli together, and with the Uruguayan virtually certain to leave the Nerazzurri at the end of his deal he could be Lazio-bound.
