Legendary former Napoli and Juventus defender Ciro Ferrara feels that Inter’s title hopes are entirely dependent on city rivals AC Milan making a big slip-up in their last match of the season.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN, Ferrar gave the view that the Rossoneri are in a position where they would be letting themselves down if they failed to get a result, and that the Nerazzurri will be hoping for the improbable.

Inter’s Scudetto dreams are not yet officially over, as they have pushed their city rivals right until the last day where they can still overtake at the top of the table in the event that the Rossoneri lose away to Sassuolo.

This is hardly an unthinkable turn of events, as the Neroverdi have already beaten not only Milan but also Inter and Juventus during the season.

However, Ferrara does not feel that this is a very positive position for the Nerazzurri to be in.

“On the last day there can always be a twist, something unexpected,” he said. “Considering the quality of the two teams and their path to this points, it’s always costly to make mistakes.”

“Everything is in the hands of Milan,” he went on. “Inter can only hope for a misstep from the Rossoneri who are a young team, but they’ve shown that they can stay in front.”
