Inter CEO Beppe Marotta feels that overall the Nerazzurri have had a positive season even without the vindication of a Serie A title triumph.

Speaking to InterTV after the team’s Serie A victory over Sampdoria, the CEO gave a positive appraisal of results this campaign, and also praised the team’s fans for the passion and support that they’ve shown throughout the season.

Inter have finished comfortably in the top four with 84 points, in addition to winning the Supercoppa Italiana and the Coppa Italia, and progressing to the knockout rounds of the Champions League for the first time in a decade.

Failure to lift the Scudetto as they did last season will leave a bitter taste for the team, but for the CEO, there is still a lot of encouragement to be taken from how the Nerazzurri have performed and from the results that they have obtained.

Marotta stated that the team gave gotten “Extremely positive results even we regret not having been able to put the icing on the cake, but this is also due to our rivals having been better than us this season.”

“We have been better team over the three years,” he continued, “we’ve taken more points than anyone else, brought home three trophies, reached a Europa League final,”

“I’d say this bodes well for a renewed and ambitious Inter who are aiming to continue in this vein,” he added. “The credit goes to the players, the coach, the exceptional fans, and the ownership in the form of Steven Zhang who is a young President but always very close to the team.”

“The fact that we’ve brought more than 1,200,000 spectators to our stadium shows the greatness of the season and above all the passion of the fans, which makes this club absolutely one of the greatest in the world.”

He added that “As directors, we’re committed to respecting the trust given to us by the fans and continuing on this path that we’ve just started to get back on a few years ago despite the club having a great history and a record of great successes. All we have to do is keep going on this path.”
