Former Inter defender Marco Andreolli feels that despite the disappointment of losing out on the Serie A title, the Nerazzurri will have to learn from the experience.

Speaking to InterTV, Andreolli gave the view that moments like these are a necessary part of learning to become more mature as a team.

The Nerazzurri came into the season with expectations uncertain, as they still retained much of the core of players that had won the title last time around, but were beginning again with a new coach and several new signings to replace big name sales.

The team has quickly taken on the ideas of coach Simone Inzaghi and shown real progress on the pitch over the course of the season, with results exceeding many expectations from before the season.

However, the fact that the team have finished behind city rivals AC Milan in the race for the title is testament to the fact that there is still further progress that needs to be made, and Andreolli believes that they must take this to heart.

“Next season we have to begin from here,” he said. “Disappointments and defeats, if managed properly, help to develop conviction.”

“These moments are also a part of the process of growth,” he added, “Inter had to face the second round of matches with the additional commitment of a two-legged Champions League ties.”

“And that in a tough moment that took away a lot of the team’s energy, they probably should have managed it better,” he continued, “but this is something that the team will have to digest and then restart from.”
