Former Inter, Fiorentina, and Villarreal midfielder Borja Valero feels that the Nerazzurri’s failure to win the Serie A title on the final day of the season will leave a lingering sense of disappointment for the team.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN, the Spaniard gave the view that the Nerazzurri will have to cope with a feeling of disappointment after a second-place finish in the Serie A table was confirmed by the results on the final day of the season.

Inter had chances to secure a second consecutive Scudetto at points during the campaign, but they were unable to do so in the decisive moments, ending the campaign two points behind city rivals AC Milan.

There were many positives to take from the campaign, but right now Valero feels that the main thing that the team will be experience is a sense that things have not gone according to plan.

“This season will undoubtedly leave a bitter taste in the mouth for Inter,” he said. “The Scudetto was in their grasp, they’re experiencing the feeling of a title that they could have won in front of their fans.”

“We must also congratulate Milan,” he added, “in the the final moments of the season they did well to win all their matches.”
