Inter CEO Beppe Marotta feels that even despite having lost out on the Scudetto, the Nerazzurri are clearly heading in a positive direction.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Rai Radio, the CEO stressed that the past three seasons have shown the kind of progress to say that Inter are back to where they want to be as a club.

Inter were disappointed to miss out on the Serie A title yesterday evening, as AC Milan’s win against Sassuolo confirmed that they would not prevail in a Scudetto where they had been as far ahead as seven points earlier in the campaign.

However, the fact that the team were in the position to fight for the title on the final day of the season, having already won the Supercoppa Italiana and the Coppa Italia, is an indication of how far the team have come in many respects.

Marotta emphasized this, as well as the continuity over several seasons, stating that “First of all, congratulations to Milan but also congratulations are due to Inter – over the past three seasons we lead the league for points taken, trophies won, and have also reached a Europe League final.”

“We’re on a path that shows we’re back to winning and being a great team,” he went on, “Inzaghi is a talented coach who can absolutely continued to grow. We’re happy to have put our trust in him with the team and we’ll go forward with him.”
