Inter CEO Beppe Marotta has no doubts about wanting to extend the contract of wingback Ivan Perisic.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, the Nerazzurri executive explained that the the club are keen to get a new deal agreed with the 33-year-old with the decisive contract talks looming.

Perisic’s situation is completely up in the air, with his current deal set to run out at the end of next month and uncertainty as to whether he and the club will agree on a new contract, while the likes of Juventus and Chelsea are reportedly among the clubs keenest on signing him on a free transfer.

On the club’s part, however, there remains a strong desire to renew with the Croat, according to the CEO.

The outcome of the contract talks between Inter and Perisic is still uncertain, but Marotta remains hopeful and is going into the negotiations in the hopes that an agreement can be found.

“We still have to continue the negotiations with his representatives,” he explained. “The will of both parties is to continue on with him, the hope is to conclude the talks quickly, because he’s proven to be a real professional. If he wants to, we’re willing to continue.”
