Empoli midfielder Kristjan Asllani is Inter’s first-choice signing in midfield to provide a back-up option for Marcelo Brozovic ahead of next season.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri have made the 20-year-old their priority option to deputize for Brozovic in the summer transfer market.

A player capable of backing up Brozovic in the squad is one of the priorities for the summer transfer window, given that the team looked to badly miss the 29-year-old in the matches where he was absent through injury or suspension in the season just gone.

Asllani has emerged in Empoli’s starting eleven following the Tuscans’ sale of Samuele Ricci to Torino in January, and the Albanian has impressed with his displays.

Inter believe that the Albanian has the right profile to provide a genuine backup option to Brozovic in their squad, while his age also means that there would be significant potential to grow.
