Inter wingback Ivan Perisic has suffered a pull to the medial gastrocnemius of his right calf during the second half of Sunday’s Serie A clash with Sampdoria.

This is confirmed by the club in an official statement which reveals the nature of the problem as determined by medical tests carried out by club doctors.

Perisic had to come off during the second half of Sunday’s Serie A clash at the San Siro, the team’s last of the season, with the 33-year-old having left the pitch on a stretcher as a precaution.

Early indications were that the player had suffered a problem in his right calf, as he went down under no contact and appeared to be in some pain, and exams have confirmed that the problem is with his right medial gastrocnemius.

It remains to be seen how long the recovery period will be from the injury, though there are no matches on the horizon with the team’s season over.
