Legendary former Inter defender Beppe Bergomi feels that Paulo Dybala would be a good fit for the Nerazzurri because he would be part of a long line of inspiring Number Tens at the club.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, Bergomi pointed out that the Nerazzurri have had a number of iconic players in the Number Ten shirt and that should they sign Dybala he would be warmly received by the fans as another in this line.
Right now, for all the quality that is in the Nerazzurri’s squad, there is not really a player with Dybala’s particular profile.
Midfielders like Hakan Calhanoglu and Nicolo Barella have undoubted technical skill and ability to unlock games, but they tend to play more of a box-to-box mezzala role, whilst the forwards are more focused on work inside the penalty area.
Dybala is a unique player who operates between the midfield and the attack to find space and break down defenses with individual skill, and Bergomi feels that he would fit right in at Inter.
“I don’t want to get too caught up in tactics, but Inter have always had a Number Ten who’s captured the fan’s imaginations,” he said. “From Corso onwards, if he were to join Inter I think he would fit in with that idea.”
