Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has said that Inter do not want to sacrifice Lautaro Martinez this summer but they could lose a defender instead, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking whilst on Sky Sport, via FCInter1908, Gianluca Di Marzio explained that there was a meeting between Simone Inzaghi and the executives at Inter to discuss his contract extension but also the upcoming transfer market.

He then explained that Inter want to end the window with a large profit but they will not make that by selling Lautaro Martinez. They are more likely to sell a defender.

“Pogba is not a target of Inter, but of Juventus. Inter will have to close the market with a €60 million surplus, Inter do not want the sacrifice to be Lautaro.

“We think – besides Sanchez and Vidal – it could be a defender, let’s see about Skriniar or Bastoni on whom there is Tottenham, it will depend on the offers.”

By doing so, Inter will then be enter the market more seriously for the players that they think can help bridge the two-point gap between the Nerazzurri and new Serie A champions AC Milan.

“Then Inter will enter the market: Bremer, Asllani, this Dybala situation not deepened. They like him and he is on the list, but there have been no steps at the moment. However, Inter will remain competitive, Inzaghi had this guarantee.”

Before those three names, Henrik Mkhitaryan appears to be the first player to join the club.
