Former AC Milan midfielder Demetrio Albertini believes that Jose Mourinho’s Conference League triumph with Roma is another chapter in the coach’s legacy in European football, like his historic treble win as Inter coach.

Speaking to Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, Albertini highlighted how the former Nerazzurri manager has always managed to reach historic goals throughout his career.

Mourinho guided the Giallorossi to being the first Conference League champions since the introduction of the competition this season, ending a season with many highs and lows on a particularly positive note.

This is far from the first achievement of this nature for a coach who has guided numerous teams to memorable trophies across Portugal, England, Spain, and Italy.

The Portuguese tactician has an especially positive reputation within Serie A, with the 2010 treble victory as Inter coach the bedrock of this reputation, and perhaps his finest achievement to date.

“Mourinho has always been able to leave his fingerprints on football history,” Albertini said. “He won the Champions League with Porto, and then the treble with Inter. Now he’s brought Roma back to success.”
