Italian journalist Niccolo Ceccarini expects that Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will have his contract extended until the end of June 2024 very soon.

Writing in his column for Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, Ceccarini reported that the Nerazzurri are all set to sign a new deal with their coach, whilst he also updated on the situation of defender Alessandro Bastoni who has transfer interest from the Premier League.

Inzaghi’s current deal runs until the end of June 2023, having signed a two-year contract with the Nerazzurri at the start of last summer.

However, given how the coach’s first campaign in charge went, the club are fully confident that he is the man they want to continue with for the foreseeable future, and they will accordingly look to extend his contact.

Ceccarini reports that “Inzaghi has been fundamental to creating this new Inter. Now, they go again with the certainty that the coach’s contract renewal will soon be formalized until 2024, with an option for a further season. This is the starting point.”

He goes on that “Then there’s the matter of the transfer market. The Nerazzurri will have to work within a budget this season and finish with a net profit of €60 million.”

“It’s clear that at the moment the players with the highest market value are these four: Bastoni, Skriniar, Barella and Lautaro,” he adds. “Inter would like to keep them all but it’s clear that in the face of a huge offer they would sit down at the table.”

Ceccarini explains that “In the past few hours there has been a lot of movement around Bastoni. The defender, is liked by many foreign clubs, especially in the Premier League.”

“Tottenham are very keen on him,” he continues. “Antonio Conte would be happy to be able to reinforce the defensie with a player he already knows very well.”

“Spurs’ main problem is the asking price, Inter’s valuation is €60-70 million,” Ceccarini explains. “And then there’s also the interest of Manchester United in Bastoni.”

“Meanwhile, in attack there is also an interest in Augustin Alvarez at Penarol,” he also reports on another transfer link for Inter.
