Inter will meet with the representatives of Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku in the coming days to explore whether a summer return would be possible.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the Nerazzurri are ready to sit down with the 29-year-old’s agents about a potential transfer just one year after he was sold to Chelsea.
The Nerazzurri would be interested in bringing Lukaku back from the Premier League one season after his departure in a big money sale, although getting terms agreed with the Blues on a deal could prove to be tricky given the size of their investment in the Belgian.
However, the player has not relented in pushing for the move, and with the ownership of Chelsea set to change hands he senses an opportunity to make the move.
The player would have to take a substantial cut to the wages he currently earns, by about half to €7 million net per season, for there to be any chance of a move, but he would be willing to do so.
The club will meet in the coming days to lay out what the situation is with the striker at Chelsea and whether they are softening their stance.
