Inter have put their pursuit of Paulo Dybala on a free transfer this summer on standby as they consider the possibility of instead moving to re-sign Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that with a return for the Belgian looking more within the realm of possibility than ever, the Nerazzurri are hesitant to complete a deal for Dybala.
Inter remain well-poised to sign Dybala, but have not yet taken the decisive step of making the 28-year-old a formal offer and obtaining his signature on an agreement.
The possibility of bringing Lukaku back from the Premier League has emerged as a serious and concrete possibility, however, and the Nerazzurri are also seriously tempted by this.
Even with a significant reduction in the Belgian’s wages and the Blues sanctioning a loan deal, a move for Lukaku would be a costly operation for Inter, and so they are reticent to commit to the signing of Dybala while they wait to see if they can bring the striker back.
