Inter could sign Federico Bernardeschi on a free transfer from Juventus to be the backup to Robin Gosens at left wingback next season.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the 28-year-old would be among the Nerazzurri’s targets to reinforce at wingback after the departure of Ivan Perisic.

Perisic is set to leave for Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer this summer, and while the club have been linked with several younger profiles to sign as deputies to Robin Gosens as the starter, coach Simone Inzaghi could ask for a more experienced profile.

The coach had been hoping to be able to continue to rely on Perisic next season, and he could request that the club sign a player who has quality in the here and now rather than potential to grow.

To this end, Bernardeschi could be significant free transfer opportunity, although the Nerazzurri would have to beat out the interest of Napoli who have already taken steps to sign the 28-year-old.
