Inter will sell defender Stefan de Vrij during the summer transfer window if they do not extend his contract past the end of June 2023.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the Nerazzurri will not allow the 30-year-old to go into the final year of his current contract one way or the other.

De Vrij’s current deal has one more season on it, and no agreement has yet come on a new deal with the Dutchman, meaning that he could potentially be available on a free transfer at the end of his contract.

The club have no intention of allowing this top happen, however, and plan to cash in on de Vrij in the event that they do not agree a new contract with him.

It remains to be seen how talks will go with the defender, however, and his immediate future will hinge on the outcome of any talks that take place.
