Current Monza and former AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani is hoping that he can do a favour to his former club the Rossoneri by beating Inter now that his current club are in Serie A.

Speaking to Rome-based newspaper La Repubblica after Monza were officially promoted to the top flight, Galliani joked that the one thing that his children are really hoping for is that the Lombard club can get one over on the Nerazzurri.

Galliani was one of the architects of the “Silvio Berlusconi era” at AC Milan, overseeing operations as the Rossoneri won two Champions League titles in addition to having a heated rivalry at the top end of the Serie A table.

Now, the executive has followed Berlusconi to his latest project, acting as CEO of Monza, who finally realized their objective of reaching the top flight of Italian football after beating Pisa in the promotion playoff from Serie B.

Galliani is happy for the success, and still has plenty of Rossoneri sympathy at heart, joking that “Now my kids have only asked one thing from me: dad, we have to beat Inter!”
