Newly-promoted Monza are interested in signing out-of-contract Inter defender Andrea Ranocchia for their first season back in Serie A.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the Lombard are thinking about a move to sign the 34-year-old to add experience to their backline as they make a push for survival in the top flight.

Ranocchia’s current contract with the Nerazzurri is set to run out at the end of next month, and the club will not extend his deal despite having the option of one further season past the one-year deal that he signed last summer.

The defender, who joined the Nerazzurri in the summer of 2010 from Genoa, will be on his way and can join another club on a free transfer in search of a new adventure.

Monza would be among the teams who would be chasing the 34-year-old’s signature, although it remains to be seen if their interest materializes in an offer to him.
