Cagliari wingback Raoul Bellanova is in pole position to replace Ivan Perisic at Inter next season.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, who report that the 22-year-old is the favourite to be signed as the Nerazzurri look to replace in wide areas during the summer transfer window.

Perisic’s departure to Tottenham Hotspur means that Inter will look to bring in a player who can bolster their ranks at wingback, and while Bellanova plays on the right rather than on the left like Perisic, he could still be a viable option.

Bellanova would become the deputy to Denzel Dumfries on the right in this case, meaning that one of Matteo Darmian, Federico Dimarco, or Danilo D’Ambrosio would be given the job of backing up Robin Gosens on the left.

The aim of the team will be to have strength in depth across the wingback positions rather than finding an exact positional replacement for the departed Perisic, even if this means signing a right-sided player like Bellanova.
