The departure of Arturo Vidal will free up space in Inter’s wage bill for Hernikh Mkhitaryan when the Armenian arrives on a free transfer from Roma this summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri will see Mkhitaryan as a direct replacement for Vidal in terms of his place in the wage bill.

Vidal will leave the Nerazzurri this summer, although he is yet to make his final decision between joining Flamengo or Al Rayyan.

The 35-year-old leaves as Inter’s highest earner, and so they will have space to work with in bringing Mkhitaryan, who will reinforce the midfield going into next season.

Given that the 33-year-old will be signed without a transfer fee, the only investment that will need to be made is in his wages, which will be quite a bit lower than what Vidal earns at the club.
