Former Fiorentina, Bayern Munich, and Hellas Verona striker Luca Toni feels that Romelu Lukaku is a top striker and that he would be welcomed back to Inter if he wants a return to the club.

Speaking to Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, Toni gave the view that the Belgian is a player who the Nerazzurri would be more than happy to add to their ranks for next season if he is available.

Lukaku would certainly be a high-profile arrival at Inter if he were to return this summer, with the 29-year-old having been the player with both the most goals and the most assists in the season before last as he pushed the team on to the Scudetto.

There are many questions lingering around whether a transfer back to the Nerazzurri would be feasible for the striker given the scale of his move to Chelsea last summer, but in terms of his quality, Toni feels that there is little question.

“He had some struggles at Chelsea this season but he’s still a world-class player,” the former striker said. “It will depend on Inzaghi but I think if Lukaku wants a return he’ll be welcome back.”
