Ivan Perisic is looking forward to his new experience in English football having completed his move to Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer today.

Speaking to the club’s official site, via FCInterNews, the Croat expressed happiness at working with former Nerazzurri coach Antonio Conte as he makes the adjustment to life at a new club.

Perisic officially completed the move to Spurs which had been anticipated for some time today, with the London club securing the 33-year-old on a free transfer.

Perisic spent six seasons in an Inter shirt plus a season on loan with Bayern Munich, but he has decided on trying his hand in the English top flight.

The Croat spoke to his new team’s official site to give his initial thoughts at the very beginning of life in the English capital, highlighting Conte and a desire to play in England among the reasons for his decision.

“I’m very excited to join the Spurs family,” he said. “I talked to Conte and Paratici and I told them that I’d wanted to come and play in England for a very long time – finally that moment has arrived.”

“I faced Tottenham with both Inter and Bayern,” he went on, calling the London team a “great club with a special atmosphere. My desire has always been to play in all the best leagues in Europe and I was without the English league.”

Of reuniting with his former Inter coach, Perisic said that “For me it’s a privilege to work with Conte again. At Inter he did very well, winning the league for the first time in eleven years – it was a perfect season and I’m very happy to work with him again.”

“Conte is someone who thinks about football continuously,” he added, joking “I think even while he’s sleeping. I really like his character and I think he’ll do a great job here too.”
