Inter look to be on the verge of completing a deal for Henrikh Mkhitaryan on a free transfer after Roma declined to improve their contract extension offer.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Giallorossi have not decided to try and convince the 33-year-old to change his mind with a late contract offer.

Mkhitaryan has looked close to joining Inter for a number of days, but his current club Roma have always had the option to try and make a late push to convince him to stay.

The Armenian had chosen the Nerazzurri’s offer over theirs, but reports yesterday suggested that the Giallorossi hadn’t completely abandoned the idea of improving their offer to try and keep the midfielder.

However, they have not done so, and now his move to Inter looks to be close at hand with no obstacles left to hold it up.
