Legendary former Roma captain Francesco Totti believes that Paulo Dybala is not interested in inheriting his Number Ten shirt if he were to join the Giallorossi this summer.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, Totti said that as far as he’s aware the Argentine is not planning to take over his famous shirt in the Italian capital, while he also gave the view that Henrink Mkhitaryan would be a good signing for Inter.

Inter are locked in two transfer battles with Roma early on in the transfer window, with the Giallorossi also vying for Dybala’s signature on a free transfer while they also hope to keep Mkhitaryan despite the Nerazzurri’s push to sign him on a free transfer.

Neither of these situations are resolved yet, though for the time being they appear to be tilted in Inter’s favour, while as far is Totti is aware the 28-year-old would not be keen to be seen as his successor in Rome even if he were to join.

“I talked to him about some things,” he said, “I think he knows how I feel, it’s not only up to him to decide on the future.”

Of the shirt number and whether he would give Dybala his blessing, he said that “If he wanted to take it, yes, but as far as I know he doesn’t want it. I think he would take number 21.”

Totti also spoke about the possible departure of Mkhitaryan for Inter, stating that “Roma would be losing a lot. He’s a great player and a great person, he’s showed his worth. He would help Inter become even stronger.”
