Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla has said that Inter boss Simone Inzaghi was very keen on bringing Henrikh Mkhitaryan to the club, according to a report in the Italian media.

Speaking via his Twitter account, the Italian journalist explained that the Armenian midfielder held a conversation with Simone Inzaghi where the former Lazio coach laid out what role he can play in the Nerazzurri team and how he will be deployed.

“Mkhitaryan spoke with Inzaghi who explained to him the possibility of being used in at least a couple of roles. Inzaghi strongly wanted him.”

It is believed that Simone Inzaghi wishes to use him in rotation with Hakan Calhanoglu and Nicolo Barella on the flanks of the midfield three. He also knows that he can be used further forward if needed next season.

Alfredo Pedulla then revealed that whilst all the negotiations have been going on, the Armenian has been spending some time on holiday outside of Italy after what has certainly been a very long season.

“He is a not only surprising purchase, but also a precious one for the technical performance that he will be able to give. Mkhitaryan had spent a few relaxing days away from Italy. Visits with Inter Milan can now be organized. No surprise.”
