Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi has based part of his decision to bring in midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Roma on a free transfer on the 33-year-old’s positional versatility.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the coach has already spoken to Mkhitaryan and has told him that he believes the midfielder can be used in a variety of roles.

Everything is set for Mkhitaryan to make the switch to the Nerazzurri, and one of the main reasons for the Armenian’s signing appears to be to provide backup to Hakan Calhanoglu in midfield especially after the likes of Arturo Vidal, Matias Vecino, and potentially Stefano Sensid depart.

However, the coach also sees Mkhitaryan as a player who will be capable of filling in in an attacking midfield role throughout the season, and this was part of what convinced the Armenian to choose a move to Inter over staying at the Giallorossi.
