Recently departed Salernitana Sporting Director Walter Sabatini has confirmed that Inter and Paris Saint-Germain are interested in midfielder Ederson but believes that the Campanian team will not sell him.

Speaking to Italian news outlet Fanpage.it, Sabatini explained that the priority of Salernitana will be to not sell their top players, and that they will try and fight off interest from bigger clubs like the Nerazzurri in Ederson.

Ederson was one of the major success stories of Salernitana’s improbable Serie A survival last season, orchestrated by Sabatini and President Danilo Iervolino, both of whom were appointed in January.

The Brazilian’s value has already undoubtedly skyrocketed from when the Campanian team signed him, as he played an important role in their push to avoid relegation with a string of eye-catching performances.

Sabatini expects that Iervolino will have no interest in cashing in on Ederson just half a season after he was signed, however.

“The interest of Paris Saint-Germain and Inter is real,” he said. “Danilo Iervolino, however, doesn’t want to think about a sale. He’s a solid President, not everyone can afford not to sell players.”

Sabatini added that “He told me that he would prefer to make a capital increase with his money rather than selling players.”
