Inter CEO Beppe Marotta has provided an update on the condition of defender Milan Skriniar, who suffered a muscle problem in yesterday’s Nations League clash between Slovakia and Kazakhstan.

Speaking to Italian news outlet Calciomercato.com, Marotta explained that while the 27-year-old has sustained a muscle injury, it should not be too serious.

Skriniar had to come off the pitch late in the first half of his team’s 0-1 loss to Kazakhstan, showing some pain in his leg and appearing to be in tears on the bench after he came off.

It was not initially clear how serious the problem was beyond that the indications were that the problem looked to be with his thigh, but the Slovak defender underwent tests today to determine the nature and severity of the injury.

Marotta explained that he is not worried about the injury as it appears to be nothing more than a routine muscular issue.

“There will be a medical announcement shortly, but it’s nothing too serious,” he said. “It’s a muscle problem.”
