Inter could turn their attention to Salernitana midfielder Ederson if their main target Kristjan Asllani at Empoli is the subject of a major bidding war.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the Nerazzurri have no intention of getting involved in an auction for Asllani, and have lined up Ederson as an alternative target.

Asllani remains Inter’s first-choice option to sign as a backup to Marcelo Brozovic for next season, and they will still make a move for him.

However, with Newcastle United also targeting the 20-year-old and AC Milan ready to try and convince Empoli on a deal by offering to immediately send him back on loan for a season, the Nerazzurri are preparing for the possibility that they could miss out.

In this case, they would look to try and sign Ederson, with the 22-year-old having a similar profile and having impressed across the second half of the Serie A season just gone.
