Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi would rather have to sacrifice Denzel Dumfries and Stefan de Vrij this summer than for the player to be sold to be Alessandro Bastoni.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the coach has made his preference clear to the club to avoid selling Bastoni.

Bastoni has been linked with a summer departure, with Tottenham Hotspur keen and Manchester United also poised to step up their interest.

Accepting a big money offer for the 23-year-old could be the way that the Nerazzurri decide to move forward in meeting their ambitious financial targets for the summer transfer window.

However, the club have also been exploring other possible strategies to avoid having to cash in on Bastoni, which would include selling de Vrij and replacing him with Torino’s Bremer, selling Dumfries, and offloading several fringe players in the squad.

Inzaghi would prefer to pursue this strategy rather than sanctioning a sale of Bastoni.
