Chelsea have asked Inter for Denzel Dumfries as part of a possible loan deal for striker Romelu Lukaku.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Blues could be interested in signing the Dutchman as part of an operation to send Lukaku back to Inter.

Chelsea have opened up on the possibility of a loan return of Lukaku to Inter, with coach Thomas Tuchel ready to part ways with the 29-year-old after just one season given their frosty working relationship.

However, agreeing a deal would be complicated given the amount invested in the Belgian by Chelsea, who would expect either a substantial loan fee or a player going the other way in some capacity.

Dumfries is among the Nerazzurri players who the Blues would be most intrigued by, and they have inquired about whether he could be included in the deal for Lukaku.

Working out a formula for the 26-year-old’s inclusion in a deal would be complicated for both parties, as Chelsea paid Inter €115 million for Lukaku last summer, whilst the Nerazzurri value Dumfries at around €115 million.
