Inter could allow Stefan de Vrij to join Chelsea as part of a deal to sign Romelu Lukaku on loan this summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the Nerazzurri could use the inclusion of the Dutch defender as a bargaining chip for the Blues to allow the loan move.

Talks between Inter and Chelsea about a loan return for Lukaku are serious, but the financial aspect of the deal is still a major obstacle, as the Premier League side would not want to lose out on their investment by allowing him to be loaned out without a substantial fee.

The Belgian is budgeted for €23 million in Chelsea’s fiscal year, meaning that they would demand a loan fee of at least this amount.

However, the inclusion of a player going the other way would be an alternative way to satisfy Chelsea’s demands, and with de Vrij’s valuation roughly this amount, the Nerazzurri could send him to Chelsea in order to meet their valuation of a one-season loan of Lukaku.
