Monza Sporting Director Filippo Antonelli has issued updates on the newly-promoted club’s reported pursuits of several Inter players, including defender Lorenzo Pirola and striker Andrea Pinamonti.

Speaking to Italian news outlet TuttoMonza, Antonelli spoke about the situations with Pirola and Pinamonti as well as Andrea Ranocchia, another reported target for the Lombard team.

One of Monza’s first aims for the summer transfer window will be to consolidate the quality that their squad already has, and buying Pirola on a permanent basis would be part of doing this.

The 20-year-old has spent the past couple seasons on loan with Monza, but they have the option to make his deal a permanent one, which they have already done with goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio.

Meanwhile, striker Pinamonti would be a player who they would look to to strengthen their team for the top flight, based on his form for Empoli last season in their first campaign back in the top flight.

“Our relationship with Inter has always been strong, since we were in Serie C,” Antonelli said. D”r. Galliani has an excellent relationship with Inter and they have some excellent players we’re interested in.”

“We’ve already signed Di Gregorio on a permanent basis, and now we will concentrate on trying to do the same with Pirola,” he added.

Antonelli then said that “I’ll stop at the deals which are already underway, I can’t say anything about the rest.”

He called Ranocchia “A great guy, he’s also someone I played with.”

And of Pinamonti’s situation, Antonelli said that “As I said, there’s no agreement there.”
